Hey everyone!

Just wanted you all to know that I now have a tumblr. Omg, that was so much work!

I was kind of afraid of making one at first, but I'm pretty familiar with tumblr and will post the pictures from the blog on there for the people on tumblr (or if any of you are on there as well) to see.

31DC2013 Day 7: Black and White Nails

Hello everyone!

Today has been a lazy day for me. I almost didn't do my nails yet again, but decided that I wanted to do them kind of at the last minute. Once I sit in my chair at my "nail desk", I just get compelled to want to do my nails lol. Today's prompt was a little hard for me. I couldn't think of anything to do. I tried around four designs before picking the one currently on my nails. There's a lot you can do with black and white, but it wasn't coming to me today.

For the black and white nails, I did a freehand chevron design. I've never done this design before but I've seen a lot of people do it on their nails. I thought it was going to be really hard, but as always it turns out to be really simple. I have a tendency to think that everything is hard when it comes to nail art, and then I try it and it works out. Anyone else get like that? 

Colors Used:

Sinful Colors Black on Black

Wet n Wild's French White Creme

For this design, I first made three lines on my nails with a striper brush (which doubles as my detail brush). Depending on the size of your nail, you want to do 2-4 stripes on each nail. Then, create the lines inside the lines and outside of them. You want to make the lines at an angle on the inside going down. For outside the lines, draw lines at an upward angle. Next, fill in every other space with black polish. Finally, finish off with a top coat!

This design is growing on me. At first, I didn't like it for some reason but I'm getting there with them. I think they would look better if it was a different color combination though.

31DC2013 Day 6: Purple Nails

Happy Friday everyone!

I can't believe it's only day 6 of the nail challenge. It seems like it's been going on forever. I hope I can make it to the end because I might be running out of ideas. I need some inspiration!

I also whitened my nails a bit today. I used peroxide and baking soda to whiten them. The yellow stains didn't come off completely, but my nails did look a bit better after cleaning them. They were pretty bad. I should probably let them breathe, but I doubt that will happen haha.

For purple, I have a tape manicure for you! I haven't done a tape manicure in a while, but I forgot how cool they can look (and time consuming!) Once I got the hang of it, it was really simple to do.

Colors Used:
Sinful Colors Candy Coated
Color Club's Eternal Beauty

For this manicure, I painted two coats of Color Club's Eternal Beauty as the base. Once that dried completely, I laid three pieces of striping tape horizontally on the nail. Then, I painted one coat of Sinful Colors Candy Coated over the tape. You want to get enough that it covers the nail. Next, I slowly peeled the tape off. Once it's dry, I finished the design off with a top coat!

With flash

The flash makes Candy Coated look lighter than it is, but you can get a better look at how Eternal Beauty looks underneath!

I wish I could have captured the Eternal Beauty better with my camera. It's such a beautiful color and one of my favorite purple polishes.

31DC2013 Day 5: Blue Nails

Hello everyone!

This challenge is killing my nails! After I removed the green nails earlier today, my nails were so yellow! Tomorrow, I'll definitely try to get rid of those yellow stains before I do the next prompt. Anyone else having this problem?

So today is blue nails and I'm absolutely in love with these nails. If my wrists weren't so bad right now, I would do my left hand as well. This design looks so pretty and I think out of the five days, these are one of the best designs that I've done so far. I did a stained glass design for today. I love how they came out!

Wet n Wild's French White Creme
Sinful Colors Endless Blue
Sinful Colors Sweet Nothing
Sinful Colors Why Not
Sinful Colors Black on Black

I first painted one coat of Wet n Wild's French White Creme for the base color. Then, I made random shapes with Sinful Colors Black on Black with a detail brush. Next, with the same brush, I filled in the different blue polishes into the shapes. If you want to paint in all the shapes you can, but leaving some of the white gives it more of a stained glass look. Finally, I finished my design with a top coat.

I wish I didn't have to take this off! I will most certainly be doing these again another time. Tomorrow is purple nails. I have an idea of what I'll be doing, but with me it could always change haha.

31DC2013 Day 4: Green Nails

Hello everyone!

It's day four and it's green nails today! I wasn't feeling too well today, so I apologize for the late post. I originally wasn't going to post today, but I really wanted to do my nails though. For some reason, I always come up with my designs at night. Maybe it's because I'm usually up anyways haha.

For my green nails, I did a ruffian manicure. I've actually never done this design before, but I was surprised at how easy it is to do. Luckily for me, I have more green polish than the last two days with orange and yellow, so I could be a little more creative with the colors. 

Green isn't my favorite either, but it's not that bad. It's funny how this challenge has made me realize what colors I do and don't have in my collection and what I might need to add more of. Anyways, let's get to the design!

Colors Used: 
Sinful Colors Pistache
Sinful Colors Rise and Shine (Matte)

For the ruffian, I first started off with Sinful Colors Pistache as the base color. Then, I used Sinful Colors Rise and Shine and placed a dot of polish a little above the cuticle, but not too far as I wanted the lighter green to show under the nail. Next, I filled in the rest of the space with the polish. One thing that I did was curve the brush so I could still get both sides of the nail. Finally, I sealed my design with a top coat. 

If you make any mistakes, you can use a detail brush and go over with the base color to make it more curved. It's a pretty simple design and I'll definitely be trying this again with different colors in he future!

31DC2013 Day 3: Yellow Nails

Hello everyone!

It's day three and I'm surprised that I've been doing this everyday so far. I did want to take a break because I really liked my orange nails, but decided against it. Also, I unfortunately broke some nails on my left hand and since I hate having nails not the same length, I had to cut down the nails on my right hand. Oh well, I love nubbies either way!

For this day, I also had a hard time trying to pick a design. If having five oranges in your collection is bad enough, I only have three yellows total in my collection. Next to orange, yellow is my least favorite color. I like using it in nail art, but other than that, I really don't like it at all.

Even if I don't like yellow, I actually really liked this design that I came up with. I think the color combination is what made me like them a lot.

Wet n Wild's Kaleidoscope

I did a gradient for the majority of the nails and then topped it off with Wet n Wild's Kaleidoscope for a little glitter. For the accent nail, I free-handed triangles on my nail. Overall, I think it's a cute design.

31DC2013 Day 2: Orange Nails

Hey everyone!

Today was kind of busy for me.I didn't have enough time to work on my nails earlier because I had to go see a family member in the hospital. Once I got home, I rushed into the house and did this design real quick.
Plus, I had a hard time trying to figure out what to do with the color orange. Orange is not my favorite color, so I only have around five orange polishes in my collection. I tried at least 4 different designs and they just didn't look right with orange. Luckily, I came up with an idea in the hospital and it came out exactly how I imagined it, and that never happens!

Sinful Colors Hazard
Sally Hansen's Sun Kissed
Sinful Colors Big Daddy
Top Coat: NYC Matte Me Crazy
Base Color: Sally Hansen's Polar Bare

I did an off white base and then I used a small dotting tool to do gradient dots with different shades of orange down the middle of the nail. To finish it off, I used a matte top coat. Overall, I'm really glad that they came out like this. I'm kind of sad that I'll have to take them off for the next color on the list.
