Sinful Colors-Dream On

Hey everyone!

I have a swatch of Sinful Colors Dream On for you today. I don't know why, but I've always avoided this color whenever I'm looking for Sinful Color polishes. It's probably one of the main colors that I don't have in my collection. My parents bought it for me as a Christmas present, so I was excited to finally try it out.

I might have figured out why I've been avoiding it...it's a possible dupe for Sally Hansen's Cherry Cherry Bang Bang. I don't think the polishes are exact, but they're pretty close. I think Cherry Cherry Bang Bang is a bit brighter though. Either way, I like both polishes.

Dream On is a neon purple with some pink undertones. This is three coats with a top coat.

This is honestly a weird polish. It looks magenta to me, but I can't call it magenta. It's really weird, but I can't exactly describe it into words. My camera FLIPPED out when I was taking photos. I know when my camera flips out, it's going to possibly be a weird color lol.

This polish also dries matte, but I didn't really notice it until I looked at the bottle. The polish doesn't dry as matte as I thought in my opinion since I would have noticed it right off the bat. I think it looks better with top coat.

As far as application and formula, the application was a little bit streaky. Once you start building up the color, this problem goes away. For the formula, I think this polish is a crelly, but I could be wrong. If anyone can give me some insight on that, that would be great.

Overall, I like this polish, but I'm not in love with it. It's an interesting color though, so I would recommend picking it up.

What do you think of this polish? Do you have any "weird" polishes in your collection?

Influenster Violet Vox Box Review

Hey everyone!

For today's post, I'm finally reviewing the Violet Vox Box that I received courtesy of Influenster. It's always a nice surprise to know that you qualified for a Vox Box.

If you don't know what Influenster is, Influenster is a site that gives you free products to try out in exchange for your reviews. It's a nice little site. The products can be hit or miss, but who doesn't like free products?

Here is a photo of the box itself and the card with the description of each of the items in the box. I received a SoyJoy bar, a Goody Athletique Headband, Sally Hansen New Triple Shine Nail Polish, and a Goody QuikStyle hair brush.

Goody Athletique Headband ($6.00)- This item is below the hairbrush if you couldn't tell what it was from the photo. I'm on the fence about this product. When I tried it on, it was very comfortable. The only problem was the velcro on the headband. It kept getting tangled in my hair a bit, so I'm not sure how much I will be using this product. I only really put my hair in a ponytail once in a while, so I feel like I won't get much out of this product. The velcro really turns me off to the product.

Sally Hansen New Triple Shine Nail Polish ($4.99)- I did a swatch and review of this product here. Overall, I really liked the polish. I would buy more in the future. I saw some glitters and flakie polishes that looked really nice.

SoyJoy Bar ($0.99)- I received the banana flavored SoyJoy bar in my box. One word: Ugh! This flavor was absolutely gross! Even though I hate banana flavored foods, I decided to try it out and I regret it. It tasted exactly like banana, which was really gross. The texture of the bar was kind of weird as well. I wouldn't buy this bar at all. I would try some of the other flavors, but anything but the banana bar.

Goody QuikStyle ($12.99)- This is a hairbrush that mainly removes water from your hair as you style. I actually used this brush before I put in some leave in conditioner in my hair today. It actually did remove the water from my hair. I usually leave in my conditioner overnight, but if I were to wash my hair really quick, this would be really good to cut back the drying time on my hair. I'm glad I got this product for free, because there would be no way that I would buy this in stores.

Overall, this box was a hit and miss for me to be honest. My favorite products are the Sally Hansen polish and the QuikStyle hairbrush, which I will probably be using the most out of the four products. I actually wish I received the face mask out of the three products, but I'm good with the brush as well.

I'm thinking about doing more product based reviews in the future. For example, hand cremes and cuticle oils. Let me know if you all would like to see more product reviews on the blog! I had fun writing this review up!

Thanks for reading and have a Merry Christmas!

*I received these products complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster*

Color Club- Over the Moon

Hey everyone!

Today I have a swatch of Color Club's Over the Moon. This is a part of the Halo Hues 2013 Collection, which is pretty popular with nail polish lovers. I only have one other polish from this collection (Eternal Beauty), but these are awesome holographic polishes and I hope one day I can get them all.

I decided on this polish because I'm actually going to tour a beauty school today to learn about their nail program! Yeah, I'm thinking about going to school for nails as a backup plan if I can't find a job in journalism. I'm not sure if I'll be going to this school, but it's nice to check out all my options. I kind of wanted a fun color for my nails, so I thought this would be the perfect color. It's also a good color for the holidays in my opinion.

Over the Moon is a medium blue holo polish. When it's not in the light, to me it comes off as a silvery blue. This is two coats with a top coat.

I'm kind of regretting the top coat because it dulls the color down a bit. Without the top coat, this color is very bright and vibrant. It still looks pretty though. I would wear this without a top coat from now on though.

The application and formula were great. The polish dried pretty fast in between coats, it was easy to apply, and I didn't have any problems with the formula.

The next three pictures down below were taken with flash. You can see how much vibrant the color is with the flash. On my cellphone camera, this polish is very bright and the holo comes out way more than my regular camera. I guess it just depends on the camera though.

I love this polish! I wish I had bought some of the other colors in the collection when I first bought these. They're so pretty and my only holographic polishes in my collection (yeah I know, I need to buy more lol). If you're looking for good holographic polishes, I would defintely check this polish and the rest of the Halo Hues collection.

What do you think of this polish? What's your favorite holographic polish?

GFC Gone?!...UGH!

Hey everyone!

Apparently, GFC (Google Friend Connect) is gone. The widget for the followers disappeared for me, so I'm guessing that it's not going to come back, which really sucks. I really liked the widget :c.

You can follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Bloglovin', and Tumblr for some other options. I try to update them on time as much as I can. The glittery buttons for those links are on the right of the page and will direct you to the pages.

I hope the widget comes back, but I wanted to make this post just in case. Let me know your social media links in the comments so I can follow you as well!

Wet n Wild-Haze of Love

Hey everyone!

Well, I'm back to nubbies again. I got sick of using the tea bag method on my pointer nail, so I chopped it down. I wish I didn't have to, but it wasn't going to grow out how I wanted it to. I cut the rest of my nails as well. Good thing I like both short and long nails and don't get too upset about them haha.

I found the perfect color to wear for my nubs, which is Wet n Wild's Haze of Love. I don't know why, but I'm really into dark polishes at the moment. Maybe the Christmas spirit is wearing off on me lol.

This is usually my go to polish for my toes, but I decided to put it on my nails. It doesn't disappoint either!

Haze of Love is a dark maroon polish. In some lights, it looks like a dark reddish brown. This is two coats with a top coat.

The application and formula are great as I've said before about the Megalast polishes. The brush is probably one of my favorite parts about this brand. It would be great if all polishes had this brush lol.

Overall, I love this polish. It's a great color for the winter season. It also looks best on short nails in my opinion. I love how it brings my nubbies out more.

What do you think of this polish?

Monochrome Bursts

Hey everyone!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. Life always seems to catch you by surprise, so I wasn't in a good mood and didn't feel like doing any nails. Things are potentially looking up for me, so I'm in a much better mood now.

I decided to do a burst design for my nails today. It's something different from what I usually do, but I really like this design on my nails, especially in just black and white. I kind of needed to stop thinking about Christmas designs, so I think this monochrome design took my mind off it a little bit.

For these nails, I first applied one coat of Sinful Colors Black on Black onto my nails. With a detail brush, I freehanded a burst design with white acrylic paint on the outside of the nail. I added more bursts inside each other, but this is optional.

For the accent nail, I applied one coat of Maybelline's Clearly Spotted on my nail. I love how the glitter shows on black nails because the white glitter pops out.

I love how abstract this design is. I think the accent nail is my favorite, even though it was the easiest to do lol.

Colorful Peppermint Swirls

Hello everyone!

Today I had such a hard time trying to come up with a post, it was ridiculous. I decided to try out another Christmas design and came up with these cute and colorful peppermint swirl nails. I hope you like them!

For these nails, I applied two coats of Wet n Wild's French White Creme for the base.

With a detail brush, I made a small dot in the middle of the nail as a guide to where to start the swirl. Next, I made four curved triangles on the nail for the swirl. Then, I made small curved triangles in between the spaces. The smaller swirls are optional though.

The colors used for the swirls from left to right are Wet n Wild's I Red a Good Book, Sally Hansen Sunkissed, Sinful Colors Pink Forever, Sinful Colors Why Not, and Sinful Colors Pistache.

Finally, I topped it off with China Glaze Fairy Dust.

What do you think of this design? What's your favorite Christmas candy?

Sinful Colors- Mama San

Hello everyone!

I have a swatch of Sinful Colors Mama San for you today. This color was actually one of the first Sinful Color polishes that I bought when I was starting to get more into doing my nails, so I've had this polish for a while.

Also, excuse my pointer finger looking weird. I actually had a break in my nail and I repaired it using the teabag method. It was also the first time I used that method so I was worried that it would come off, so I used so much base coat to keep it together. That explains the "bump" on my nail lol. Anyways, onto the nails!

Mama San is a frosty metallic rose pink. This is two coats with a top coat. The formula and application were great to work with. I had no problems at all with this polish.

I've expressed before that I'm not into metallic polishes that much, but I actually really like this polish. It's not an overpowering metallic like most metallic polishes come off to be. I don't have to save this polish for a certain season or holiday, I can wear it year round. The color is also pretty neutral as far as metallics go. I would describe it as a soft metallic if anything.

Overall, I really like this polish. If you're looking for a nice metallic polish, this is a keeper to have in your collection.

What do you think of this polish? Do you like metallic polishes?

Sally Hansen Triple Shine -Sparkling Water

Hey everyone!

Today I have a swatch of one of Sally Hansen Triple Shine polishes Sparkling Water. I received this polish inside my Violet Box from Influenster (a full size at that!) to review. The other products I will get to next week, so look out for that post in the future!

Sparkling Water is a teal jelly base with blue and purple shimmer. This is three coats with a top coat. This polish retails for $4.99.

The formula for the polish was good. The application was a different story. The one thing that I hate about the polish is the bottle. The bottle is thin and long, which is different for a polish (or at least from what I've seen). Aesthetically, it looks really nice. Unfortunately, this kind of affects the application because the bottle is thin and the brush is wide so the polish starts to clump together. It's a small thing, but when you have polish collecting on the brush each time, it gets kind of annoying. Other than that, the application was good. The bottle just kind of got in the way.

I really like this polish. I don't have anything like this in my collection, so I was happy to receive this color in my box. I saw some other boxes and this is probably the most interesting one out of them all. I think I would buy some more if I had the chance. I saw some nice glitter and flakie polishes in the collection that looked really nice.

What do you think of this polish? Do you own any Triple Shine polishes yet?

80's Inspired Zigag Nails

Hello everyone!

Is anyone else sick? I feel like the cold is starting to spread over here. I'm not completely sick, but I do have a sore throat. I've been doing everything from tea, to cough drops, oranges, everything lol. I hope no one else is catching a cold.

Anyways, today I have a colorful nail art design for you today. This design reminds me of the 80's, hence the name. I really like this design and hope you all like it too!

For this design, I first applied one coat of Wet n Wild's French Creme on my nails. With a makeup sponge, I sponged on three colors : Sinful Colors Pink Forever, Sinful Colors Sweet Tooth, and Sinful Colors Sweet Nothing onto the nail until opaque.

With a detail brush, I made zigzags on the nail with black acrylic paint. Finally, I sealed my design with a top coat.
.

I'm still trying to work with acrylic paint, so it as kind of upsetting that some of the paint looks faded and some of the lines look a little thicker. My top coat might have been the cause of that. Does anyone have any tips on how to use acrylic paint?

I've had this design on my nails for a few days and I love them. I think the sponged on color really makes it pop out for me.

What do you think of this design? Does it remind you of the 80's?

Snowflake Nails

Hey everyone!

Sorry that I didn't post much last week. I was busy with trying to figure out what I was going to for Thanksgiving. I ended up hanging at my grandma's and then with my girlfriend. It was stressful, but good at the same time. How was everyone's Thanksgiving?

I usually don't do holiday nails, but I really wanted to try doing snowflake nails. I guess I'm in the holiday spirit after all lol.

I tried out a bunch of different snowflake designs, but they didn't really turn out well. I made some simple snowflakes and I think that this design turned out pretty good.

snowflake-nails

For this design, I painted two coats of Wet n Wild's I Red a Good Book. With a detail brush, I made three lines for the snowflake using white acrylic paint . You can create as many lines as you'd like for the snowflakes.

Next, I made dots at the point of the lines with a small dotting tool. I also made white dots to fill in the empty space on the nail. For some sparkle, I used one coat of China Glaze's Fairy Dust.

snowflake-nails

This is a very simple and cute holiday design. I actually tried this design with white polish and I didn't really like it. I think I'll be working with acrylic paint more in my designs.

What do you think of this design? Have you done any Christmas inspired nails yet?

China Glaze- Crimson

Hello everyone!

I have a swatch of China Glaze's Crimson for you today. I actually didn't know that I had this polish at first, but I'm glad that I found it. It's a beautiful vampy polish that I can see myself wearing a lot.

I apologize in advance for the photos though. My camera decided to be a little difficult while I was taking photos, but I think I got some good shots of this polish. Don't mind my hands being so bright lol.

china-glaze-crimson

Crimson is a dark burgundy purple. This is two coats without a top coat. The formula was a little bit runny and thin with the first coat. The second coat definitely evened everything out. I also love how this polish is so glossy without the top coat.

china-glaze-crimson

In certain lights, this polish looks like a dark burgundy, then black, but I think it leans towards the purple side more in my opinion. I was a bit confused at first because I thought it was a dark purple. It definitely is red toned though. I don't think that Crimson is the best name for this polish to be honest.

Despite the color name, I'm really in love with this polish. I really love vampy colors and this is the perfect dark polish to have for the fall and winter!

Sugar Spun Nails

Hey everyone!

For today, I decided to try out a popular technique that I've been wanting to do for ages: sugar spun nails! These were actually pretty easy to do and I love the effect that comes out from these.

sugar-spun-nails

For this design, I painted two coats of Sinful Colors Big Daddy. On a scrap piece of paper, I placed a few drops of Sinful Colors Endless Blue on it.

With a dotting tool (or toothpick), I swirled the polish around to thicken it up. I also blew on it a little to speed up the drying time.

Once the polish thickens, the polish will turn stringy and you can start placing it on the nail. I did a back and forth motion for all the nails. I did this until I thought there were enough strings on the nail. You can make the strings as thick or thin as you want, but I did a combination of both.

For the accent nail, I added Wet n Wild's French White Creme on top of Endless Blue.

sugar-spun-nails

I think the one thing that I like about these nails is the texture. It feels really nice and it's an easy way to get a textured design without texture polishes. I almost tried it with a texture polish, but I wasn't sure how that would come out. If you all would like to see how that goes, let me know and I can try it out for you!

Overlapping Dotticure

Hey everyone!

Today I have a simple dotticure to show you! I really like how this design is so simple and eye catching at the same time. The effect of the dots overlapping really make it a cool design.

overlapping-dotticure

For this design, I used the biggest sized dot of the dotting tool. If you want smaller dots, you can use the smaller dot sizes to make it smaller.

I used Sinful Colors Amethyst, Wet n Wild's French White Creme, and Sinful Colors Creme Pink for this design. You can use any and as many colors as you want.

First, I placed a dot of polish onto a scrap piece of paper. Next, I dipped the dotting tool into the polish and made a row of dots along the nail. With the next line of dots, I placed the line slightly over the first line of dots. I continued doing this for the other colors until the nail was filled.

I didn't use a base color for these nails, but you can paint your nails first and then do the dots if you'd like.

I love this design so much. I think this looks great on short nails, but it would look good on long nails as well. It's so eye catching, it kind of looks like tie dye a little bit.

What do you think of this design?
