Sunset Palm Tree Nails

Woah, I'm excited for the first post! I've been toying with the idea of creating a nail blog for ages, and now it's all coming together. It's so exciting!  It was a lot of work to just get this first post started, but I'm up for the challenge. I'm sure it will get easier once I pick up the pace and get used to things.

There's always a first for everything, so I decided to do something that I haven't done before for the first post: sunset gradient nails. I'm not really a beach person, but I don't mind it on my nails though. I'm also really feeling the color combination on this one. Let's take a look!

Colors Used:
Sinful Colors Energetic Red
Sinful Colors Big Daddy
Wet and Wild Lemon Drop
Black nail striper

For the gradient, I first applied base coat, and then used white polish for the base. The white polish will brighten the colors more. When the white polish dried, I painted the gradient on a makeup sponge and dabbed the sponge onto the nail.  Along with dabbing, I also rolled the sponge onto the nail to make sure all the colors got onto the nail. I did this until the colors were opaque.

On the ring finger, I added a palm tree using a black nail striper. I made a line on the bottom (if you're bringing your nails towards you) of the nail, then created a curved line for the trunk of the tree. Next, I painted the leaves on the tree by making smaller curved lines. On the middle finger, I painted three V-shapes for the birds.

I thought it was going to be difficult, but it turned out to be very easy to do. It looks like a real sunset!

What do you think? I'm thinking of doing this design with different colors. It would be cool to see the different combinations.

Well until next time!
