Hey everyone!
For today, I decided to try out a popular technique that I've been wanting to do for ages: sugar spun nails! These were actually pretty easy to do and I love the effect that comes out from these.
For this design, I painted two coats of Sinful Colors Big Daddy. On a scrap piece of paper, I placed a few drops of Sinful Colors Endless Blue on it.
With a dotting tool (or toothpick), I swirled the polish around to thicken it up. I also blew on it a little to speed up the drying time.
Once the polish thickens, the polish will turn stringy and you can start placing it on the nail. I did a back and forth motion for all the nails. I did this until I thought there were enough strings on the nail. You can make the strings as thick or thin as you want, but I did a combination of both.
For the accent nail, I added Wet n Wild's French White Creme on top of Endless Blue.
I think the one thing that I like about these nails is the texture. It feels really nice and it's an easy way to get a textured design without texture polishes. I almost tried it with a texture polish, but I wasn't sure how that would come out. If you all would like to see how that goes, let me know and I can try it out for you!
What do you think of this design? Have you tried sugar spun nails before?
Thanks for reading!
This looks great! I've never tried this technique before - but I love the outcome! The colours you've used work really well together! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's a messy, but fun technique to try!
DeleteI wanted to try it with textured polishes as well;) I'm very curious about the effect:)
ReplyDeleteAnd I like your mani:)
I can try it out for you in a post for next week ^^. My only concern is the polish drying up before you can get the strings onto the nail. I hope it works though.
DeleteOooh I love the effect of this! The 3D look of the design is so cool! :D
